Lanser Supply — your supply network partner

Casting & Forging

Near-net-shape blanks from audited partners, finished to tolerance on our own floors. Less material waste, stronger grain structure, one accountable supplier from blank to finished part.

Some parts should not start as a solid block. Casting and forging shape metal close to its final form — saving material, and in forging’s case aligning the grain for strength — before we finish the critical features on our own CNC, 5-axis, and grinding floors. Lanser specifies the blank, qualifies the audited partner, and owns the finished dimension and inspection.

Two paths to a near-net shape

Casting

Sand · gravity die · pressure die

For complex shapes and internal cavities that machining cannot efficiently produce. Liquid metal fills a mold close to final geometry, then we machine the critical faces.

  • Materials: aluminum, steel, stainless, brass / bronze
  • Best for: housings, bodies, brackets, flanges
  • Internal cavities without welded assemblies
Forging

Open-die · closed-die

For strength-critical parts. Working the metal under pressure aligns the grain flow with the part shape, so load-bearing features carry load the way solid stock cannot.

  • Materials: steel, stainless, and alloy grades
  • Best for: load-bearing, fatigue-prone parts
  • Grain-aligned strength vs. machined-from-solid

What Lanser owns

The blank comes from an audited partner; the finished dimension, the machining, and the inspection are ours.

Where a blank beats solid stock

When volume, shape, or strength argues against machining from a block.

Valve bodies & flanges
Internal cavities, machined faces.
Pump & gear housings
Complex bores, finished to fit.
Structural brackets
Near-net, lighter, cheaper at volume.
Gears, rollers, shafts
Forged for load and fatigue.
Mounting plates & bases
Cast to size, finish-machined.
Wear & load parts
Strength where it matters.
